Health and Safety information

Wear appropriate clothing, sturdy enclosed footwear and protective gloves.
Follow the event organiser’s instructions and remain within designated clean-up areas.
Be mindful of traffic, particularly near roads, car parks and vehicle access points. Stay clear of moving vehicles.
Watch for uneven ground, slippery surfaces, steep areas and other potential hazards.
Use litter pickers and avoid direct contact with waste.
Do not touch or attempt to collect needles, syringes, broken glass or other sharp objects. Keep others clear and report these to the organiser.
Do not handle hazardous or unidentified materials, including chemicals, suspected asbestos or suspicious containers.
Avoid lifting heavy or bulky items without appropriate assistance.
Be aware of other park and beach users, cyclists, children and wildlife.
Stay hydrated, use sun protection and take breaks as required.
Report any hazards, injuries, incidents or unsafe conditions to the event organiser immediately.
In an emergency, call 111.
If something appears unsafe, do not attempt to handle it. Leave it and notify the event organiser.

Clean Up The Hutt 2026

The personal information Hutt City Council is collecting includes your: name, phone number, email address, organisation name (if applicable), and whether you agree to your email address being added to third-party mailing lists.

We are collecting this information to plan the Clean Up The Hutt 2026 public litter clean-up event and to contact you about the event and the prize draw. This is necessary to support Council's functions in promoting community wellbeing and waste minimisation.

Your information will be used only for the reasons we mentioned above, and only designated Hutt City Council staff will be allowed to see it. If you opt in to join the mailing list, your email address and name will also be shared with Conservation Volunteers New Zealand and Keep Hutt Valley Beautiful so they can send you their updates.

Providing your name, phone number and email address is mandatory. If you choose not to provide them, we will not be able to register you for the event or enter you in the prize draw. Providing your organisation name and agreeing to third-party mailing lists is optional and does not affect your registration or prize draw entry.

Hutt City Council stores personal information with reasonable safeguards against loss and disclosure. Reasonable safeguards include physical and technological protections against unauthorised access.

Hutt City Council will not keep information for longer than is necessary or as required by legislation. When no longer needed, information is destroyed securely.
